Aimed at travellers who like to reconcile their need for information with simple and quick access to tourist content, the Historical Route of the Lines of Torres Vedras now has a free tourist app available for Android and iOS, offered in four languages: Spanish, French, English, and Portuguese. The app aims to enhance the user experience in exploring the Lines of Torres Vedras through its points of interest and thematic tourist routes, giving suggestions on what to see, what to do, where to eat, and where to sleep, in a territory just 30 km north of Lisbon that stretches from the Atlantic Ocean to the Tagus River.
In the ‘Passport’ section, you can complement your visit with your own photographs. Our mascot will accompany you on your journey and defy you with some challenges!
The App can be downloaded for free from the App Store (iOS) and from Google Play (Android).
The Historical Route of the Lines of Torres Vedras has at your disposal six tourist maps that combine illustration and infographics with small informative texts. When aligned, the six maps convert into a mosaic, revealing a complete picture that illustrates the defence of the Lines of Torres Vedras.
Each map is a document in itself, one of its faces being common to the set. The visitor is provided with general information on the six existing thematic routes: 'Torres Vedras on the First Line', 'Wellington', 'The Defence of the Tagus', 'Great Canyons', 'The Nó das Linhas', and 'From the Palace to the Atlantic'. Information is included on the heritage related to the Lines of Torres Vedras, as well as on other heritage attractions of the Historical Route.
On the back of the map is highlighted the heritage specific to each of the municipalities through which the defensive lines extend: Arruda dos Vinhos, Loures, Mafra, Sobral de Monte Agraço, Torres Vedras, and Vila Franca de Xira, with a more local-oriented narrative and detailed information on what to see and visit.
A useful tool for your journey which, while taking up little space, is an excellent element of guidance and whose graphic quality, representing in some cases and reconstituting, in others, the heritage with realism and detail, makes it an excellent souvenir of the places you visited.
Available in two languages, Portuguese and English, the maps can be obtained at the Interpretation Centres of the Lines of Torres Vedras, as well as at the Tourist Offices in the region. If you prefer a PDF version, just use the links on this page to download it!
