On June 26, 2021, the new Interpretation Centre of the Lines of Torres Vedras – CILT Mafra was inaugurated at the Quinta da Raposa Cultural Complex. The Centre aims to raise awareness of the theme of the French Invasions and the way they interconnected with the Municipality of Mafra, its monuments and the population that inhabited it. In this Centre, you will also be able to discover what Optical Telegraphy is and how the idea of building the Lines of Torres Vedras, one of the largest and most effective defensive systems in Europe, was born.
