With winter just around the corner, we suggest a new experience not to be missed by those looking to get closer to the power of nature. The getaway we propose runs along the coast of Lourinhã and Torres Vedras, where the fragrance and flavours of the sea always accompany you.
In 2018, Ana Ferreira turned her family home, in Sapataria, into a cosy guesthouse, attracting visitors of various nationalities. The property offers a four-person apartment and a two-person room, accommodating up to six guests. Amenities include a shared garden, pool, barbecue area, and it's pet-friendly. Just 30 minutes from Lisbon, it provides a serene retreat with nature sounds, near local attractions, and historical sites, being ideal for both a getaway and an extended stay.
The space that houses this eclectic restaurant, which offers excellent traditional Portuguese cuisine with a touch of contemporaneity, reflects the philosophy of the owners: a former fado house, it has been modernised to make it a warm and spacious place, with rooms to suit all tastes, but without losing its character. While the name "Lampeira" is a friendly reference to the personality of the previous owner, chef Gonçalo Elias also comes from a family linked to cooking, making family tradition a point of honour in the art of good service.
Historical, monumental and symbolic reasons, together with the wide visual perspective it affords over the city, the River Sizandro and the surrounding landscape, make the castle of Torres Vedras a unique heritage complex. The view and the pleasant gardens make this site, occupied since time immemorial, a mandatory visit.
Today a pleasant spot where you can enjoy a refreshing walk surrounded by cultivated fields, its mission was to batter the Ponte do Rol road and the plains through which the River Sizandro flows, crossing its fire with that of the forts of Pombal, Bordinheira and Outeiro do Monte. Commanded by Lieutenant General Thomas Picton, it had a telegraph post that communicated with the Fort of S. Vicente.
