The Rota Histórica das Linhas de Torres (Historic Route of the Lines of Torres Vedras, RHLT) had its origin in a project to safeguard, conserve, and promote a group of some thirty military structures, spread over the first two defensive lines whose mission was to defend Lisbon from the third French invasion, during 1810 - the Lines of Torres Vedras.

This unique military system has proved effective in contributing decisively to maintain the independence of Portugal and to the destiny of Europe.

After a deep investment in the rehabilitation, musealisation, signalling, and accessibility of these sites, were created the conditions for the constitution of a historical, cultural and touristic route, to which Turismo de Portugal awarded the Prémio de Melhor Projeto Público de Requalificação (Prize for the Best Public Requalification Project). The distinction acknowledges its contribution to the qualification of national tourism and to the notoriety of Portugal as a tourism destination of excellence.

Undoubtedly, the RHLT has enhanced the offer of the region in the requalification of patrimonial heritage, with the recovery of military fortifications and the implementation of various thematic circuits that allow visitors to get to know the region better. The project also stands out for the quality of the hosting and reception, supported by six interpretation centres, by the establishment of partnerships with the different economic, local and regional agents, namely in what concerns entertainment, restaurants and accommodation, and with the municipalities involved.

Today the RHLT is an association for the development of tourism and heritage of the Lines of Torres Vedras aiming to promote tourism for its heritage, mediating between public and private entities for the implementation of a differentia-ting tourism product in the market.

The INVADE! magazine constitutes another step in the effort to make known a territory that extends between the Tagus and the Atlantic, which crosses the history, the identity, and the landscape with the gastronomy, the wines, the golf, and the equestrian and sports activities, among other experiences.
