‘Between the blue of the ocean and the green of endless vineyards, we have The Minimal House at Bombarral’
Owned by Francisco Cipriano, The Minimal House is a building with two independent flats located in a quiet street in the centre of Bombarral. A mix of traditional and modern aesthetics, it incorporates both childhood memories and adult experiences of its owner. Cipriano transformed his parents' old house into an accommodation development in 2018, seeking to combine a traditional touch with modern elements, maintaining a connection to the countryside but never losing sight of cosmopolitan tastes.
The flats feature a mix of traditional and contemporary design, incorporating antique pieces with a modern aesthetic. The upper flat, where Cipriano spent his childhood, features elements that reflect his life journey. The house serves as a link between the past and the present, displaying objects collected by Cipriano, including his father's wooden desk and memorabilia from his travels.
The upper flat has four double bedrooms with a fully equipped kitchen, a living room and communal spaces. The lower flat has three bedrooms with different bed configurations. The Minimal House attracts different types of guests, from those who are drawn to the gardens of the nearby Bacalhôa Buddha Eden, to foreign tourists who use it as a base for visiting the many attractions of the Oeste region and pilgrims heading to Fátima.
To support the local economy, The Minimal House has an ‘honesty shop’ offering local products such as wine, cider, pear jam, honey and ceramics from the region. Cipriano also collaborates with a vegetarian café for breakfast options.
The Minimal House is now a meeting point for narratives and experiences, showcasing the richness of the Oeste region and its attractions.
