Carla Neves came from Funchal to fulfil a dream. The result was Funcho a Granel.
In 2020, Funcho a Granel ('Fennel in Bulk') was born. Far from being a simple organic produce stall, this innovative pantry is dedicated to promoting healthy eating and reducing food waste: Carla encourages her customers to buy only the quantities they really need. At Funcho a Granel, sustainability is not a theoretical concept, but a daily practice.
Funcho a Granel offers a carefully curated selection of high-quality organic products, including traditional stone-milled flours, pasta, pulses, cereals, seeds, salt, granola, teas, nuts and dried fruit — all sold in bulk, so that each customer can limit their purchase to their needs.
The offer is not limited to dry goods. On Saturdays, the market gets a special touch with the sale of sour-dough bread and a variety of handmade sweets and savouries. All these products are prepared with organic ingredients, without refined sugars or lactose, and the use of eggs is minimised so that customers can enjoy a ‘sin’ in the healthiest way possible.
Funcho a Granel’s commitment to sustainability goes beyond food, also offering a range of products with a low environmental impact, such as organic detergents and cleaning and kitchen utensils, in line with a more ecological and conscious philosophy of life.
