In the heart of Sobral de Monte Agraço, Pé de Galo combines the essence of its heritage with an innovative spirit: uniting local culinary traditions with the creativity of contemporary gastronomy, it honours the region’s roots while offering a rich and bold dining experience.
With a history dating back 60 years, Pé de Galo is born again under the leadership of Pedro Carvalho and Orlando Martins, keeping the original name as a tribute to the past and to the local community. Its concept consists of rescuing traditional flavours, reinventing them with modern techniques and careful presentations. Two seasonal menus allow you to explore new combinations each season, guaranteeing a creative freshness that translates into the originality of each dish.
Two of the highlights of the new menu — the sole meunière and the giblets and sausages rice, duck magret and asparagus — are inspired by the Lines of Torres Vedras. At a time when the population was suffering from the scorched earth policy, imposed to deny the Napoleonic troops subsistence resources, fish and dishes made with sausages — chouriço, farinheiras and others — were essential. These latter, particularly long-lasting, provided sustenance in times of great scarcity.
Those who visit Pé de Galo also have at their disposal a wine cellar that prioritises small national productions, toasting authenticity, and truly unique flavours.
Much more than a restaurant
Pé de Galo has a versatile bar concept — this is the ideal place not only to have lunch or dinner, but also to savour a cocktail while waiting for the main course, or to enjoy a drink in the evening. Among the most popular cocktails are the gin with macerated pineapple and basil and the intriguing ‘Mexican Salted Caramel’.
Pé de Galo is also a social and cultural space, offering live music on some weekends, as well as, on specific dates, dinners that turn into unique wine experiences.
The restaurant-bar, which is also a cafeteria besides offering a catering service, is open from Wednesday to Monday from 8am to 2am.
