Casal dos Mochos does not promise absolute isolation or the monastic silence of houses lost in the middle of nowhere — and that's a good thing. What it offers is something rarer and, ultimately, more authentic: a serene relationship with the countryside, made up of space, light and horizon, without the paradoxically claustrophobic feeling of being far from everything.
Set on an old rural property, the accommodation maintains a domestic scale and a country character, well cared for and with all modern comforts. The exterior retains the air of a farmhouse, with open views over the hills and the discreet presence of rural life, including picturesque poultry. The road passes right by, little used but always available, reminding us that the outside world continues to exist — but without disturbing the essentials.
Inside, the atmosphere is bright. The space is organised in a fluid way, with the bedroom installed on a large mezzanine that reinforces the feeling of openness and comfort. Nothing is excessive, nothing is missing: everything invites you to dolce far niente. In the living room, a wood-burning stove fulfils its role with rustic personality, slowing down time when the day calls for retreat.
The outdoor infinity pool is a natural complement, making room for true luxury: waking up to a view of the hills, having a leisurely breakfast and letting the day organise itself.
Casal dos Mochos easily adapts to different rhythms and company — a couple looking for peace and quiet, a family with children, or simply anyone who wants to take a break between Lisbon and the countryside.
An excellent place to stay, enjoy — and return to.
